On Wednesday, 17 July 2024, Assoc. Prof. Philip Kariatlis, Sub-Dean of St Andrew’s Theological College, delivered the second of a series of lectures to a Chinese audience predominantly living within Chinda and intently interested in learning about the Eastern Orthodox tradition. The title of his lecture was: “Our Understanding of the Church in the New Testament.” It essentially portrayed the way that the Church is depicted in the New Testament identifying its continuity with the Old Testament and the new phase of her existence initiated on the day of Pentecost with the permanent presence of the Holy Spirit within the life of the Church thereafter brining the faithful to recognise Jesus as the Christ and Saviour of the world.
