Ordinations

On Sunday 16 January, College graduate, Deacon Pandelis Laskaris (GradDipA, 2019), was ordained to the holy priesthood by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios at the Greek Orthodox Church of Sts Constantine and Helen in South Yarra (VIC), wherein he has also been assigned to serve as the new parish priest, following in the footsteps of the tireless Fr Dimitrios Papakyriakopoulos who has served the parish for decades. Fr Pandelis and his wife, Presbytera Silouane, are blessed with two young daughters, Anna-Maria and Christina. His prior university qualifications in psychology and counselling, together with his experience as a trained youth worker, will be invaluable complements to his theological education as he ministers within the Church.

During the same Liturgy, His Eminence also ordained Irenaeus Vasileiou (DipChSt, 2017) to the holy diaconate. Dn Irenaeus will resume theological studies via distance education whilst serving as the personal deacon to His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Melbourne.
