On Sunday 7 August, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Siluan (Mrakic), was ordained to the holy episcopate by His Beatitude Patriarch Irinej, Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci, and Patriarch of Serbia, with twenty-one concelebrating bishops at the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael (Belgrade, Serbia). His enthronement as Bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand is scheduled for Saturday 22 October at the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of St George (Cabramatta, NSW) by His Grace Bishop Longin of New Gracanica—Midwestern America.
Bishop Siluan was born and raised in Sydney. After extensive theological education and training in both Serbia and Russia, he also completed the Master of Theology degree (Sydney College of Divinity) through St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College in 2014. The Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church elected him Bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand in May 2016.
