On Friday 7 May, College student, Deacon Timothy Klintsaris, was ordained to the holy priesthood by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation (Redfern, NSW). His Grace Bishop Emilianos of Meloa, Chancellor of the Archdiocese, as well as several clergymen of Sydney, were also present. Fr Timothy was installed as the new parish priest of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Archangel Michael in Crows Nest (NSW) on Sunday 9 May by His Grace Bishop Emilianos, succeeding the tireless and long-serving Fr John Daskalakis who has retired.
Fr Timothy was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and is 34 years old. After completing undergraduate studies in philosophy in Toronto he moved to the Gold Coast in Queensland to study law at Bond University. During this time he also served as a chanter at St Anna’s Greek Orthodox Church. It was there that he met and married his wife Katerina. Following his graduation he has worked mainly as a migration agent. In 2017, the couple moved to Sydney so that Fr Timothy could enrol in the Bachelor of Theology program at St Andrew's Greek Orthodox Theological College while also pursuing his professional interests. He is currently completing his Bachelor of Theology degree. Fr Timothy and Presbytera Katerina have four young children, Theodora, 6, Dionysios, 5, Irini 2, and Anastasia aged 10 months.
