On Wednesday, 11th June, Associate Professor Philip Kariatlis, Sub-Dean of St Andrew’s Theological College, delivered a lecture at the University of New South Wales for the SOFIA Orthodox Christian Fellowship. Entitled “From Upper Room to Inner Life: The Reception of the Holy Spirit in the Early Church,” the lecture illuminated not only the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit within the life of the Church, but also, and more significantly, the manifold ways through which the Church enables the faithful to receive and partake of the Holy Spirit in their personal lives. In so doing, it sought to highlight the indispensable role of the Holy Spirit in bringing to fulfilment the world’s ultimate destiny within God’s eternal kingdom.
