His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia (College President and Dean) conferred with an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Athens

On Wednesday 7 May, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, our esteemed President and Dean was conferred with an honorary doctorate by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (N.K.U.A.). This most auspicious occasion was further graced by the venerable and sanctified presence of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome, and Ecumenical Patriarch. This honour is a most fitting and richly deserved recognition of His Eminence’s extraordinary contributions to the Church, to academia, and to the wider Greek Orthodox community. His steadfast dedication to theological scholarship, pastoral ministry, and the noble advancement of Hellenism and Orthodoxy in the diaspora has set His Eminence apart as a visionary shepherd and distinguished leader of far-reaching influence. This prestigious distinction not only exalts His Eminence personally but also brings honour and glory to the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, under whose inspired and grace-filled leadership both the Church and the broader Australian society have been spiritually nurtured, culturally enriched, and intellectually uplifted.
