The Apostle Paul: A Short Course Symposium

The Apostle Paul: A Short Course Symposium

With the blessing of our College President and Dean, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, St Andrew's recently hosted a Crash Course Symposium on the Apostle Paul, featuring a series of seminars delivered by His Grace Bishop Themistocles of Nicopolis (Patriarchate of Africa; Head of the Sierra Leone Orthodox Mission). The symposium, held over three evenings from 4th- 6th of September, focused on the enduring relevance of the Apostle Paul, offering deep insights into his significance and impact on Christianity, his contextual influences, and his understanding of salvation through the mystery of the Cross.

The event was well attended drawing a large audience both in person and on ZOOM.

Bishop Themi was born in Alexandria and raised in Melbourne. He holds degrees in Arts, Education, Biblical Studies and Theology from the University of Melbourne, Monash University, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (USA), Princeton Divinity School (USA), and Brown University (USA). He taught Biblical Studies, Early Church History and Biblical Hebrew at St Andrew’s Theological College from its establishment in 1986 until 1999. We would like to thank His Grace for delivering the short course. We would also like to convey our gratitude to His Grace Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia, the Parish and Community of the Resurrection of our Lord, Kogarah (NSW), together with their Ladies Philoptochos, for the generous hospitality which they provided in hosting this event whilst our own campus is temporarily unavailable.
