On Saturday 15th November 2025, St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College presented a one-day seminar in Adelaide, on the topic “Celebrating Nicaea” as part of its Adult Faith Education initiative proposed at a recent Council meeting with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the College’s President and Dean.
Hosted by the Church of St Nectarios, Croydon Park, Adelaide, the event was chaired by Fr Peter Kouvousis, parish priest of St Nectarios, and attended by over 70 people. Talks were given by faculty of the college: the Very Reverend Fr Anastasios Bozikis, and Dr Lydia Gore-Jones.
The day began with greetings and blessing given by His Grace Bishop Silouan of Adelaide, who is also college lecturer in Patristics. Subsequently, three main talks were delivered followed by group discussions which sought to allow attendants to summarise, understand and articulate the main topics presented throughout the seminar. The attendants were also given opportunities to ask their questions to the panel made up of His Grace Bishop Silouan and the two lecturers.
Fr Anastasios Bozikis presented on the topic, “The Historical Context of Nicaea.”
Dr Lydia Gore-Jones presented on the topic, “The Nicene Creed: The Symbol of the Apostolic and Biblical Faith and Our Way of Life.”
Fr Anastasios Bozikis then outlined the different study opportunities available at the College.
To close the day, a vespers service was conducted by His Grace Bishop Silouan.
