Guest Lecture by Faculty Member

On 27 March 2022, at the invitation of His Grace Bishop Kyriakos and with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, our Faculty Member Dr Andrew Mellas presented a guest lecture on “The Mystery of the Cross” to the Orthodox faithful of Melbourne. Dr Mellas explored the liturgical significance of the Cross, showing how the hymns of our Church invite the congregation to experience this mystery during the Lenten journey to Pascha. The event also featured a performance of a hymn by St Romanos the Melodist, ‘On the Victory of the Cross’, by teachers from the Byzantine Music School of Australia.
