Alumni Elected to the Holy Episcopacy

On 30 August, the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate was pleased to announce the election of four new Assistant Bishops for Australia following their nominations by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia. The College rejoices at the news since all four are alumni with many years of commitment to their ministry as clergymen.

The Very Revd Archimandrite Kyriakos Michael (BTh, 1996) was elected Bishop of Sozopolis (an ancient town in the late Roman province of Pisidia, present-day southwestern Turkey, almost 200 kms north of modern Antalya).

The Very Revd Archimandrite Christodoulos Economou (BTh to be conferred in 2022) was elected Bishop of Magnesia (an ancient city in Ionia, almost 100 kms south-east of Smyrna, near the west coast of present-day Turkey).

The Very Revd Archimandrite Evmenios Vasilopoulos (BTh, 2007, MA, 2008) was elected Bishop of Kerasounta (ancient Cerasus, now the city of Giresun in the Black Sea region of present-day northeastern Turkey, about 130 kms west of modern Trabzon).  

The Very Revd Archimandrite Prochoros Anastasiadis (BTh, 2014) was elected Bishop of Charioupolis (now the town of Hayrabolu in present-day northwestern Turkey, almost 200 kms west of Constantinople approaching the Greece/Turkey border).
