On Thursday 31 October, Dr Philip Kariatlis attended the National Council of Churches of Australia (NCCA) Assembly at which he was invited to present a paper relating to the World Council of Churches Faith and Order Commission study document, Moral Discernment in the Church – Faith and Order Paper No. 215. His paper provided some initial reflections on how the Orthodox Church engages in moral discernment, particularly how decisions about moral matters are made. The eight different member churches represented included: Anglican Church of Australia, Greek Orthodox Church, Uniting Church in Australia, The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Roman Catholic Church, The Salvation Army, The Churches of Christ and the Coptic Orthodox Church.
