Dr Chris Baghos is the Librarian of St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College and the Sub-Editor of Phronema. He recently completed his Doctor of Philosophy with the Department of Modern Greek and Byzantine Studies at the University of Sydney, having explored the topic of ‘Saints, Animals, and Techne from Byzantium to Britain’. In 2017, he obtained a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from the Sydney College Divinity via SAGOTC. He received a Master of Arts (Research) in 2016—which consisted in a thesis on ‘Christian Identity, Hellenism, and Romanitas in theTrial of St Maximus the Confessor and Its Patristic Antecedents’—from Sydney University, where he also acquired a Diploma of Language Studies with a major in Modern Greek Studies three years earlier.
After completing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (with a major in Business Information Systems Management and a sub-major in Italian Language and Culture), Dr Baghos graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney in 2012. Prior to this, he received a Diploma of Information Technology in Systems Administration and a Certificate IV of Information Technology in Help Desk/Support from TAFE NSW. He is currently undertaking a Master of Information Studies (Librarianship) via distance with Charles Sturt University. Dr Baghos formerly served as the Registry and I.T. Officer of the College. His research interests include patristic theology, Church history, and the Greek, Latin, and Insular languages and cultures.
Chris manages the circulation of issued and returned books, the re-shelving of books, acquisitions, and the development of an in-house journal catalogue. His work also involves assisting staff, students, and library patrons with their research investigations. Furthermore, he represents SAGOTC at the Library Committee meetings of the SCD.
