As part of the 24th International Congress of Byzantine Studies, our Faculty Member, Dr Andrew Mellas, presented a paper on human and divine emotion in the paschal hymn of St Romanos the Melodist. The paper was part of a roundtable on ‘Mystagogy: Liturgy, Materiality and the Senses.’ The roundtable featured other papers on this theme by Fr Dr Damaskinos Olkinuoura (Liturgical Representations of Churches), Dr Dimitris Skrekas (Embodying Salvation), Dr Mark Roosien (The Earth and Emotions in Byzantine Hymns) and Dr Angeliki Lymberopoulou (Liturgical Space of Heaven and Hell).
