2016 Graduation Events

On Monday 23 May, the Thanksgiving Service for Graduates of St Andrew’s Theological College was celebrated in the Cathedral of the Annunciation (Redfern, NSW). The evening’s proceedings began with a Doxological Service chanted by faculty members and students. His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos of Australia, as Dean, recited a benediction over the graduates and conferred them with the College's Ecclesiastical Certificate.

Public Seminar: Christian Perspectives on the Environment

On Thursday 12 May 2016, St Andrew’s was honoured to welcome for the second time the esteemed scholar, Professor Jonathan Wooding (Sir Warwick Fairfax Professor of Celtic Studies, The University of Sydney). Prof. Wooding offered the main address of a seminar hosted by the College, entitled Christian Perspectives on the Environment.

Upcoming Public Lecture by Prof. Johannes Zachhuber

On Tuesday 26 July, from 7pm, the eminent scholar Johannes Zachhuber (Professor of Historical and Systematic Theology, Faculty of Theology and Religion, University of Oxford) will offer a public lecture on 'The Philosophy of the Greek Church Fathers.' This event will coincide with Prof.

Report on Patristic Studies at St Andrew's

Upon the invitation of the editors of Universitas, an academic publication of Fu Jen Catholic University (Taiwan), Protopresbyter Dr Doru Costache wrote a brief report on the development of patristic studies at St Andrew's.

Reminder: Professor Zachhuber at St Andrew's

The noted scholar, Professor Johannes Zachhuber, from the University of Oxford, will offer three days of intensive lectures at St Andrew's (25-27 July 2016) on classical philosophy and the Church fathers. Enrolments towards credit, including those of cross-institutional students, and auditors are welcome.

The Nineteenth Conference of AABS

'Dreams, Memory and Imagination in Byzantium' is the theme of the nineteenth conference of Australian Association for Byzantine Studies. The conference will be held at Monash University, Melbourne, from 24-26 February 2017. In the last two decades, the role of dreams, memory and the imagination in the ancient world and its cultural productions have come to receive increased attention, along with the importance of emotions in the Greco-Roman and medieval worlds.

ACU Strathfield Lecture on Celtic Spirituality

On Wednesday 13 April, Professor Salvador Ryan (Pontifical University, Saint Patrick's College, Maynooth, Ireland) will present on “Críost Liom”: Treasures of the Irish Christian Tradition at the Australian Catholic University, Strathfield Campus (The Function Room, Ground Floor, Edmund Rice Building).
