Curriculum Objectives

This Module aims at giving the student the skills for chanting specific hymns that are used in the Vespers service.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this unit students will be able to:

  1. Identify the melody for hymns found in Vespers service.
  2. Chant the melody for the Kekragaria in the 8 modes.
  3. Chant various hymns that are used at certain times/feasts of the year during Vespers.

  2. Dogmatika.
  3. Aposticha.
  4. Theotokia.
  5. Fos Ilaron.
  6. Prokeimena.
  7. Artoklasia.
  8. Selected hymns for Vespers during Lent.
  9. Anoixantaria.

Assessment Profile

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of hymns that belong to the Vespers service, eg. quizzes.   
  2. Perform selected melodies belonging to Vespers service, e.g. in class participation, and practical exam.

Schedule
