Father Anastasios Bozikis lectures in Church History at St Andrew's. He graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Queensland and moved to Sydney the following year to study Theology at St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College where, in 1995, he graduated with a Bachelor of Theology. He received the degree of Master of Theology with Merit from the University in Sydney in 1997 while teaching Religion and other subjects at St. Spyridon College High School, Maroubra (1994-1999).
In January 1998, Father Anastasios was ordained a Deacon by His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos and, subsequently, a Priest in February 1999. He served the Parish-Communities of St Euphemia, Bankstown (1999-2002) and the Resurrection of Christ, Kogarah (2002-2003) in the following years. Between 1997 and 2001 Father Anastasios also lectured in Patristics at St Andrew’s. The Archbishop nominated him to represent the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese as part of the delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the General Assembly of the World Council of Churches held in Harare, Zimbabwe, in December 1998. He later represented the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese on the Executive Committee of the National Council of Churches in Australia from 1999-2003.
From 2004-2017 he ministered at the Parish-Community of Saint George in South Brisbane. Beyond his pastoral duties Father Anastasios served as a Chaplain to The University of Queensland and a member of the Executive Committee of Queensland Churches Together (QCT). In 2008-2009 he completed a term as President of QCT. Between 2011 and 2016 he lectured in Early Church History at St Francis’ Anglican Theological College, Milton, as an Adjunct Lecturer of the School of Theology, Charles Sturt University. Father Anastasios served as the Assistant Priest at St Michael’s Greek Orthodox Church, Crow’s Nest, Sydney (2018-2020) and is currently the Parish Priest of St Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church in Wollongong.
