Curriculum Objectives

This Module aims at giving the student the skills for chanting specific hymns that are used in the Mattins service.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this unit students will be able to:

1. Identify the melody for hymns found in Mattins service.
2. Chant the melody for hymns in Mattins that are used in the cycle of the 8 modes.
3. Chant various hymns that are used at certain times/feasts of the year during Mattins.

6. Ainoi.
7. Doxology.
8. Evlogeitaria (Anastasima).
9. Intro to Sunday Exaposteilaria.
10. For Morning Gospel Reading (Sunday & Feast day)
11. Anavathmoi (Feast day)
12. Ton Despotin.
13. 11 Eothina.

Assessment Profile

1. Demonstrate an understanding of hymns that belong to the Mattins service, eg. quizzes.   
2. Perform selected melodies belonging to Mattins service, e.g. in class participation, and practical exam.
