Dr Andrew Mellas
Teacher in Church History.

Andrew Mellas is Lecturer in Byzantine studies at St Andrew's. He has completed a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Sydney on the emotion of compunction in Byzantium. Andrew has published various articles on patristics, church law and Byzantine hymnography in peer-reviewed journals and has presented papers on these subjects at international conferences. He is also a member of the Australian Byzantine Choir.

Very Rev. Dr Silouan Fotineas
Lecturer in Patristics

Fr Silouan Fotineas graduated from Saint Andrew’s in 2001. In 2002 he was ordained to the priesthood in Brisbane and since 2006 he has been the parish priest of the Holy Monastery of Saint Nectarios in Adelaide. He is currently on the executive council of the South Australian Council of Churches and a board member of the Greek Welfare Centre S.A. His research interests include Patristics, Ecclesiology and Church History of Late Antiquity. 


Dr Lydia Gore-Jones
Lecturer in Biblical Studies

Lydia Gore-Jones is Lecturer in Biblical Studies at St Andrew’s. Her doctoral thesis completed at Macquarie University dealt with two Jewish apocalyptic works as response to the destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Temple by the Romans in AD 70. She has taught subjects related to biblical history and Hebrew language at tertiary level. She had previously worked as radio journalist, translator, and teacher of English as a Second Language.
